How Derby's Treating Me

The exhibitionist in me would like to share this...

Thigh Bruise

Taken six days after I fell on concrete at derby practice.

Sorry, Diary,

but I've been too busy to write. I started a new job, suffered for seven days and one hour at new job with no knowledge to manage, walked out this morning, and got a phone call in the meantime with another job offer. All while getting ready for the busiest month of the year (rodeo!) and trying not to kill myself in derby. And moving my 2 1/2-year-old into the 3-year-old class at daycare since she's potty-trained at school ONLY. I have a half-day break before my new-new job starts TOMORROW! Back to the "L" word again, but oh, how I missed it for that miserable week and a half.

Very best of luck to the HRD Travel Team, which goes to Tucson this weekend. I'll be at the biggest cook-off in the world, right here in Houston. Where else?!?!?!

Do you have an unpopular job?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Catazon does. I can specifically relate to the fact that colleges and universities "report the greatest difficulty in hiring librarians due to lower pay." Friday, February 10, 2006, I will leave my current position in a form of academic library for a job in the private sector. After racking up a hefty balance on my credit card over the past year, I need the promises of bonuses and profit sharing. That dirty "L" word will no longer be a part of my title, although "Knowledge Manager" doesn't fall very far from the tree.

Houston Roller Derby 2006 Schedule

Our 2006 schedule was released this weekend. As you can see, our first bout is April 9th, not March 19th. Once again, my husband can gripe about how I worry too much over things I can't control. He can go right ahead, because I'm too excited to listen.

We have some really talented people involved in this league. The art committee already had some cute little business card-sized schedules made up for our DVD screening, which went really well, by the way. We made close to $1000 in the silent auction alone. A friend of mine submitted a pen & ink, then didn't show up to promote it. Shame!
